We Believe That...

Childen are precious gifts from God and deserve our care, concern and love.

They are active learners. and unique individuals.  They learn according to a developmental sequence, progressing at their own pace.

Teachers are entrusted by God with the privilege of caring for children.  They are facilitators of the learning process who are sensitive to developmental and individual needs.  The teacher is to be respectful and flexible in dealing with children.  The appropriate curriculum will address the social, emotional, intellectual, physical and spiritual needs of the children.

Learning Environments should be aesthetically pleasing and stimulating.  The atmosphere should be calm and peaceful rather than chaotic.  The environment should be child centered and planned in a manner which provides various choices including interest centers, quiet, and active spaces.

Classroom Management/Discipline involves proper organization of the environment, appropriate activites and clear expectations with natural and logical consequences. Close supervision and aware teachers are also key.  It should be positive and very consistant throughout the program.

Families of the children in our school should be kept informed and have many opportunities for involvement in classroom activities. There should be an atmosphere of mutual support and respect between parents and staff.  This will set an example for the children and create an effective learning environment.

God is at the center of all that we do.  Young children are capable of learning about, and coming to know Jesus, not only through Bible stories, songs, and lessons, but also through the direct sharing of His love.

Faith & Mission

Our Christian faith is best represented by the Apostles Creed:

I believe in God, the Father Almighty,

     maker of heaven and earth.

And in Jesus Christ, His only son, our Lord,

who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,

     born of the virgin Mary,

     suffered under Pontious Pilate,

was crucified, died and was buried.

     He descended into hell.

The third day He rose from the dead.

     He ascended into heaven

and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.

From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

     the holy Christian Church,

          the communion of saints,

     the forgiveness of sins,

     the resurrection of the body,

     and the life everlasting.  Amen.

Our Mission...

Our school was established and is supported by St. John Lutheran Church.  The congregation opened the school in 1961 to meet a need for Christian education in the community. While this is a decidedly Lutheran congregation, it is not our goal to create "little Lutheran's" or recruit  more church members.

We exsist in order to trust in God, love all people, and seek to bring many into a relationship with Jesus.  We endeavor to introduce the person of Jesus and God's plan of salvation to children and their families in our community.

"Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"     2 Peter 3:18
